Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder is a well-known brand name of Winona Laura Hoowitz, born within Winona Minnesota. The name of her parents was derived from the town she grew up in. Michel Horowitz was her father and Cynthia Palmer, his mother, were both authors and editors. Ryder is Jewish. Ryder believes that her father had an Jewish heritage. Her half-siblings are younger, Jubal and Sunyata. When Ryder was only seven her family relocated into Mendocino County California. The family were in a home that had no electric power. Ryder was a voracious read and would spend her days reading books because she had no TV. In 1983, when she was twelve, Ryder enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre to take classes in acting. In 1986 she landed her first role on the big screen in the movie Lucas aged just fifteen years old. Ryder was bullied in high school. Ryder had hoped that her profession acting as a professional would be a positive change. However, it didn't come to pass. Still she continued pursuing her dreams. The year 1988 saw her big break in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued to play successful roles in a variety of films. She received nominations for two Academy Awards one for her performance as a character in The Age of Innocence (1993).
