Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial singer and composer who weds the soul of gospel and jazz with R&B in a signature mix. Avery Sunshine's performances have been on Broadway and in festivals throughout Europe. She has also performed at performing at Democratic National Convention. Sunshine's given name is Denise White. She is now a resident of Atlanta her birthplace was Chester Pennsylvania. Her musical path began at church, where she sang as well as was a pianist. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she began her training on the city's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single with her vocals was Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released only in Japan It has since been remixed by a variety of producers and has become the mainstay of her live set. She has also contributed her voice to the soundtrack for The Fighting Temptations. She was appointed as the principal keyboardist for Tyler Perry's play Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist who has worked on stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her to serve as the choral leader for this theatrical production. Sunshine was the subject of national media notice during the four performances at the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was subsequently invited to sing at the Obama's inauguration ceremony in 2009.
